The people of Shanghai rubbed their eyes in disbelief when they saw a person running on top of a giant, spinning, 50-meter globe in the middle of the city. His running made the world go round, and as he ran faster, the world spun faster.

The stunt, “Running Makes the World Go Round,” marked the launch of Nike’s new running campaign “Choose Go” and introduced Nike Epic React technology to a broader audience in China.

Agency hijacked Metro City, a spherical building in Shanghai, and turned it into an interactive spinning globe that made runners look like they were on top of the world. Runners ran on a treadmill and magically appeared on top of the building using a 5-meter invisible screen and camera technology. The quicker they ran, the quicker they made the world go round.

Dozens of celebrities, including Edison Chen, had their names projected onto the globe while running on top of the world. This stunt delivered a strong message to China about the power of running, and encouraged everyone across the nation to get out there and run. The event garnered so much attention, the police shut it down and stopped the world.
