Ocean Outdoor, a leading outdoor advertising company, has reopened its annual ‘Drops in the Ocean’ programme, offering free advertising space to environmental charities and non-profits. Under the ‘Drops in the Ocean’ initiative, Ocean Outdoor donates 2% of its annual revenue in the form of advertising space. Since its launch three years ago, the programme has supported 24 charities, providing an estimated £6.5 million worth of advertising space.

Focus Areas for 2025

The 2025 programme invites organisations dedicated to the preservation of land, nature, oceans, global warming, pollution reduction, and sustainability to apply. Short pitches are being accepted until Friday, January 17th, 2025, with selected campaigns displayed across 17 UK cities.

Past Success Stories

In 2024, six organisations were chosen for the programme, including:

  • Everyday Plastic
  • Take the Jump
  • Solar Aid
  • The Reef-World Foundation
  • Tree Aid

Campaign for National Parks used the initiative to highlight water pollution in UK waterways, with its campaign appearing in September across 35 Ocean Outdoor screens in cities like London, Manchester, and Cardiff. According to Jessica Glover, development manager for the organisation:

“We've got supporters off the back of this with our campaigning. Just having images of our billboards to post on social media is still helping us explain our cause to supporters and funders.”

Similarly, Everyday Plastic and Greenpeace UK leveraged the platform to raise awareness about plastic pollution. Their campaign, launched on Earth Day (April 22nd), coincided with The Global Plastics Treaty week and ran across ten Ocean locations in cities such as Birmingham, Liverpool, and Nottingham.
