Marvel unveils sculptures in four Italian cities, each representing a Fantastic Four hero, to promote 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps'.
Four Italian Cities, Four Heroes
As part of a bold activation campaign for the release of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’, Marvel selected four cities across Italy to represent each superhero through the installation of temporary sculptures. Each sculpture reimagines the iconic number 4 symbol, infused with the powers of the corresponding character.
Matera: The Power of The Thing
The city of Matera was chosen to represent The Thing, also known as La Mole in Italian. With its unique geological formations and ancient stone-built heritage, Matera serves as a perfect match for the hero's rocky exterior and immense strength. The sculpture here mimics a massive stone form, blending the superhero's power with the local identity.
Naples: A Tribute to the Human Torch
Naples, known for its vibrant energy and fiery cultural essence, was selected to represent The Human Torch. The sculpture displayed in the city reflects flames and motion, symbolizing the hero's combustion powers and fearless attitude.
Alghero: Invisible Yet Impactful
Alghero, a coastal town in Sardinia, hosted the sculpture representing The Invisible Woman. Designed with reflective and transparent materials, the installation offers a contemporary take on invisibility and resilience, aligning with both the character and the coastal setting.
Turin: Stretching Boundaries with Mr. Fantastic
The innovation hub of Turin became home to the sculpture of Mr. Fantastic. Celebrating elasticity and intellect, the piece features fluid lines and extended shapes, paying homage to the superhero's unique abilities while highlighting the city’s forward-thinking nature.
Campaign Strategy and Film Release
This creative outdoor campaign not only promotes Marvel's upcoming film but also integrates local culture, art, and superhero storytelling in a visually engaging way. The reinterpretation of the number 4 symbol for each sculpture connects Marvel’s universe with the diverse identities of the host cities.
