Pantone Celebrates 25 Years of “Yellow”

Pantone marks 25 years of Coldplay’s “Yellow” with 58 shades of yellow on Wembley Park’s stairs in a large-scale urban tribute.

A Tribute to an Iconic Song

Pantone marks the 25th anniversary of “Yellow” (June 26, 2000) by transforming the stairs at Wembley Park’s Plaza España with the emblematic yellow tone from the single’s cover.

The installation turns a daily commute into an immersive experience, where colour serves as a bridge between collective memory and the present moment.

“Yellow”: A Timeless Hit

Almost every Coldplay track is a hit, but “Yellow” remains one of the band’s most beloved songs. Featured on Parachutes —an album with over 13 million copies sold— it continues to amass billions of streams worldwide.

This tribute acknowledges its cultural permanence and its ability to connect with new generations.

58 Shades for 58 Notes

Each step is painted in one of 58 unique shades of yellow selected by Pantone, where:

  • Lighter shades represent higher notes.
  • Deeper shades symbolise lower notes.

Urban Art Connecting Music and Design

More than an aesthetic intervention, the project reinforces the power of public art to activate spaces and spark conversation. London now boasts a piece that celebrates creativity, memory, and community around one of the most cherished songs of recent decades.
